Board Certification

Know you’re in good hands with our board-certified allergists and immunologists at Allergy & Immunology Associates of Michigan. Becoming board-certified is a lengthy process that ensures that our doctors are the best in the business.

An allergist/immunologist is specially trained to diagnose, treat, and manage many allergic disorders, including primary immunodeficiency problems. After completing medical school and graduating with a degree, physicians must undergo three years of training in internal medicine or pediatrics and pass the exam of either the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).

Internists and pediatricians interested in becoming an allergist have at least an additional two years of study known as a fellowship, in an allergy/immunology training program and a total of an additional nine to twelve years of training beyond a bachelor’s degree.

Dr. Leflein, Dr. Leo, Dr. Song, and Dr. Lin are American Board of Pediatrics certified, as well as the American Board of Allergy and Immunology certified.

Dr. DeMore and Dr. Shankar are American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology certified.
